CowanGates Law Firm Hosts Divorce Management Seminar

RICHMOND, VA (October 1, 2008) . . . The law firm of CowanGates PC is conducting a program designed to inform and prepare women who are considering divorce. The confidential seminar will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select Koger South.

The seminar, titled "Separation Anxiety," will discuss the critical legal and financial issues involved in managing a divorce. Melanie Friend, a family law attorney with CowanGates, will answer questions relating to child custody, visitation, child and spousal support and property settlement. She also will outline when mediation might be used as an alternative to litigation

As guest speaker, Patricia S. Brock, a financial advisor with Edward Jones, will explain how divorce impacts a woman's financial status including filing tax returns, receiving social security benefits and managing retirement funds.
