Scott Stovall is a member of CowanGates PC's estate planning, corporate and business law, and real estate teams. His law practice focuses on tax and estate planning, including drafting wills and trusts; probate and estate administration; general business law, including corporations, limited liability companies, general and limited partnerships, non-profit (501(c)(3)) organizations, business succession planning, and asset and stock purchase/sale transactions; employment law, including non-competition, confidentiality, and non-solicitation agreements; mechanic's lien and construction law; as well as guardian and conservator matters for the incapacitated. In addition, he represents sellers, purchasers, and developers in residential, commercial, and industrial real estate transactions and assists them with a variety of real estate related issues including closings, construction and permanent financing, contract negotiation, and drafting and reviewing covenants, easement agreements, and lease agreements.

Prior to joining CowanGates PC, Scott previously worked as a law clerk for the firm and in the legal department of CarMax Auto Superstores, Inc.'s corporate headquarters. He earned his juris doctorate from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond where he graduated sixth in his class and magna cum laude. At graduation, the law school faculty presented him with the Charles T. Norman Award for Best All-Around Graduating Law Student. During law school, Scott served as an Articles Editor for the University of Richmond Law Review, the Vice Chancellor of the McNeill Honor Society, and the Interscholastic Chair of the Moot Court Board.

Scott attended Hampden-Sydney College for two years before graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a B.S. degree in Business with a major in Marketing. During his senior year, the faculty of VCU's School of Business named him Student of the Year in Marketing and Business Law.
