Attorney Profiles

Tessie O. Barnes, an associate with CowanGates PC, is a member of the firm's civil and commercial litigation team.  She practices in the areas of domestic relations, civil and commercial litigation, eminent domain and condemnation.

She graduated magna cum laude in 2008 from the T.C. Williams School of Law of the University of Richmond where she served as Articles Editor for the Richmond Law Review.   She was the treasurer of the Walter Scott McNeill Society and also volunteered as teaching assistant for the Lawyering Skills Program.

An honors graduate of the University of Virginia , Tessie received her business degree in commerce with concentrations in accounting and finance.  While attending UVA, she was named to Beta Gamma Sigma, an honor society for business majors.

Tessie is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Metropolitan Richmond Women's Bar Association and Chesterfield County Bar Association.
