Scott Stovall is a member of CowanGates PC's estate planning, corporate and business law, and real estate teams. His law practice focuses on land use and zoning, estate planning and administration, general business law, corporations, limited liability companies, general and limited partnerships, tax planning, and construction law. In addition, he works with residential and commercial real estate developers and assists them with development-related issues such as subdivisions, covenants, lease agreements, and easement agreements. Scott joined CowanGates PC in 2004 and previously worked as a law clerk for the firm and in the legal department of CarMax Auto Superstores, Inc.'s corporate headquarters. He earned his juris doctorate from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, graduating sixth in his class and magna cum laude. At graduation, the law school faculty presented him with the Charles T. Norman Award for Best All-Around Graduating Law Student. During law school, Scott served as an Articles Editor for the University of Richmond Law Review, the Vice Chancellor of the McNeill Honor Society, and the Interscholastic Chair of the Moot Court Board. After attending Hampden-Sydney College, Scott graduated cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a B.S. degree in Business with a major in Marketing. The faculty of VCU's School of Business named Scott the 2001 Student of the Year in Marketing and Business Law.
